My Life Experiences
MEDITATION
In this fast paced world today almost everyone is being heard of suffering from stress, depression and psychological imbalance syndrome. The ultimate solution being advised by friends, doctors, neighbors, bosses, colleagues and even by a layman is to perform a rituals of at least 15 minutes of meditation each day. According to them, this practice will calm one's anxiety and sooth the nerves and finally result in enabling an individual in taking a stable decision in all areas of their life. Also it is believed to have an positive aspect of the biological health of an individual thereby developing more anti-aging cells in the body which might delay the aging process.
I too was terribly interested on the subject hence had been practicing meditation everyday for around 15-20 mints. Initially, I faced a lot problem in emptying my mind as they say that you should stop all thoughts happening in the mind only then you would get the total benefit of meditation. During my course of practice, I realized that "the thought of stopping the thoughts" is in itself a "thought" and hence it is next to impossible in trying to stop the mind from creating thoughts and such an attempt is indeed futile and even more stressful in itself. This way the entire process of meditation gets defeated. Finally, after attending few classes and seminars on the subject, I came to the conclusion that during a meditation session, one should allow the mind to wander in itself ie. free the mind rather than chaining it at our will. It will then produce numerous thought. During this process, one should never try to tame the mind. After around 5 minutes of this process, the mind shall become tired of focusing on many subjects and finally will try to rest & settle and that is the time when one should divert it to the subject of their choice. At this stage it is recommended to visualize of future goals having completed. Just create a picture of as to how one shall feel if their one particular goal is achieved. The main idea of meditation is to first calm the mind (by itself, without any forceful effort) and then when it comes in your control, then divert and concentrate it on your future goals. The thoughts then procedure should be filled with emotions. In this stage it is believed that one can achieve all desired goals very easily and quickly.
Hence, the bottom-line is that meditation is not an activity of stopping thoughts from entering or producing, it is actually a process to calm the mind and then concentrate of something which you desperately desire in life. Almighty or the Universal intelligence shall then assist us in the process of achieving our desired goal very quickly.
